FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Lime Ridge Doodles has put together this FAQ to help you. Please take the time to read through the FAQ’s before contacting Lime Ridge Doodles. If you have any further questions after reviewing the FAQ’s, please contact us.

Q: What kind of doodles do you breed?

A: At Lime Ridge Doodles, we breed standard doodles. Standard doodles at Lime Ridge Doodles are purebred Australian Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, or Bernese Mountain Dogs that are bred with a Standard Poodle to produce F1 Aussiedoodles, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles. We currently do not breed mini doodles.

Weight: Standard doodle females tend to be slightly smaller than males. Adult weight can range from 50 lbs to 95 lbs depending on the mother’s weight and doodle kind. Our smallest to heaviest are: Aussiedoodle, Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, Bernedoodle.

Personality: Standard doodles are smart, fun loving family dogs that are goofy and friendly. Many of our customers comment on the excellent trainability of our puppies as well. They require lots of attention, socialization and room to grow, play, and sleep. Standard doodles are not recommended for small condo living. Each type of doodle requires daily exercise and plenty of safe outdoor time.

Grooming: A fair amount of grooming is required for doodles. Daily brushing is preferred. We recommend that you research “grooming doodles” to make sure the time and financial commitment for your doodle matches your dog ownership expectations.

Coats: Doodles are low shedding and are considered good dogs for people with allergies. Your doodle may also shed a little just as people also lose hair. The biggest difference is that doodles have the hair of a poodle rather than fur that causes most allergic reactions. We DNA test for coat type and poodle furnishings. Each doodle is unique and may range from quite curly hair to slightly wavy hair.

For more information on doodles, research using reliable canine resource websites.

Q: Are doodles certified as purebred?

A: No, doodles are not recognized as a purebred dog breed. A doodle is a combination of a purebred dog bred with a purebred standard poodle. Please note that we only breed healthy quality purebred dogs together to ensure healthy puppy outcomes. We can provide purebred documentation for our breeding dogs (moms and dads).

Q: Do your puppies come with a health guarantee?

A: Yes, the puppies are vet checked and a 1-year good health guarantee is provided in writing when you pick up your puppy. Our DNA testing with Paw Print Genetics allows to confidently offer you this genetic health guarantee.

Q: Are the puppies vaccinated?

A: Yes, the puppy will receive their 1st set of core vaccinations before you pick it up. The vaccinations include DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo, and parainfluenza). The puppy will also be de-wormed multiple times. Documentation will be provided when you pick up your puppy.

Q: Do you socialize the puppies?

A: Yes, the puppies are safely socialized with our dogs of all ages, and children and adults from our home. Our children love to cuddle and play with our fur babies.

Q: Will my puppy be house trained?

A: No, our puppies will have designated spots for going to the bathroom, but you will need to train your puppy where you would like them to go. It is best for you to research house training a puppy to prepare for when your puppy comes home. Our recommendation is to begin with crate training to make the process easier.

Q: Can I visit the puppy before I can take it home?

A: We keep the health and safety of all of our puppies a priority and wait for any visits until the first vaccinations are complete between 6 and 7 weeks. If you would like an update of your puppy, you will receive a weekly photo update.

Q: How much does a Lime Ridge Doodle cost?

A: We have a non-refundable deposit of $300 and this is deducted from the total cost when you make your final payment. The total cost ranges from $2000 to $3000 per puppy depending on the doodle you choose.
